Subject: Well I liked this movie
Even if the rest of you didn't. I appreciated the story line with Jimmy and the 'other woman' because my own family went through something similar although she rotten 1st woman didn't die. (to bad though) My kids were raised by another wonderful woman and to this day still call her mom 27 years later and that's what this story was really about. In fact it wasn't till this year my daughter at 28 wanted to find her natural mother and I finally had to spill the beans why its not such a good idea..This movie has a lot of personal appeal to me I guess.. i thought it was great.. The direction a bit slow, but the story was great.

Subject: Also known as: "Hell in a Circus"
And it was hell to sit through. I kept wanting to just turn it off, but kept thinking/hoping something would happen to redeem my time investment, but nothing ever did, other than the riot at the circus in the last few minutes.

It was long, drawn-out, dull and boring. I didn't like or believe the characters, or enjoy their dynamic with each other. The story-line was lack-luster.

I do suppose for 1933 some of the topics this film touches on were scandalous at the time, but watching it in 2010 - not so much.

There's this actor couple and their son, she gets an invite to act on Broadway and the husband and son go to visit her and find out she's been quite the naughty girl. Things go downhill for them from there... and the movie went with it.
